About your GREY bin collection
Your grey bin is for the recycling materials listed above ONLY. Any additional items placed in the bin could result in your bin not being collected.

You do not need to sort your items to place them in the recycling bin, we'll do that for you. Simply put all of the above items into the bin loose, but do wash out plastic bottles and tins/cans.

Mixed Glass
Glass is accepted in the Rutland County Council Kerbside Recycling Collection.

Paper
Rutland County Council will collect newspapers and magazines, any unwanted mail, catalogues, and telephone directories. Please do not put any sensitive documents in your GREY bin. Please be aware that we are unable to accept shredded paper as the recycling sorting facility we use is unable to separate it from other materials (and it also clogs up the sorting machines). Please put shredded paper in recycling banks, or as a last resort, put it bagged in your black bin.

Cardboard
We accept all cardboard in your recycling bin including cereal boxes and general packaging. Please break your cardboard down to ensure that you maximise the capacity of your GREY recycling bin.

Plastic Bottles
The Rutland County Council Kersbide Recycling Collection accepts most plastic bottles but we do ask that you remove the lids (they are a different plastic which our recycling depot does not accept). We welcome plastic milk bottles, plastic bottles and fabric softener bottles.

Food and Drink Cans
Please wash out any food and drink cans before placing in the recycling bin. We accept any food or drink tins/cans.

Aerosols
You can recycle aerosols in the Rutland County Council recycling service

Foil
Foil is accepted in the Rutland County Council recycling service.

What's not accepted in the GREY bin
In short, if it's not one the seven items (featured above) that are collected for recycling then it should NOT be in the grey bin under any circumstances.

We're unable to accept yoghurt pots and margarine tubs, food trays, plastic bags, waxed cartons (e.g. juice cartons) or textiles. However, some of these items can be taken to your nearest recycling site.
