Waste Collections Revised Due to Bad Weather

Published:Tuesday 22 December 2009

recycling logoDue to the recent bad weather, some Recycling and Refuse collections have been delayed this week. In order to complete all refuse (black bin) collections all available resources are being diverted into collecting refuse as a priority. Crews will attempt to collect all missed black bins by Thursday 24th December, and complete all scheduled black bin collections due this week.

Pink bags for extra refuse will also be delivered to all households who have not yet received them by Thursday 24th December. The pink bags are for any extra landfill waste only to be put out with the first landfill (black bin) collection after Christmas.

Those who are expecting recycling (grey bin) collections on Wednesday 23rd and Thursday 24th December as detailed on the 2009-10 collection calendar will instead receive recycling collections during the week beginning Monday 4th January 2010.

Households who have not received a recycling collection on the week beginning Monday 21st December will be able to use their green bin, if it is empty, for any extra recycling. Green bins will then be collected alongside the grey bin (recycling) on the next recycling scheduled collection dates in January. There are no garden waste collections scheduled for the week beginning Monday 4th January.

Rutland County Council apologises for any inconvenience these revised arrangements may cause and thanks residents for their co-operation during the difficult weather conditions which have affected our services.
