TESCO BAGS NEW RECYCLING BANK
Published:Thursday 6 November 2008The new, environmentally friendly, technology will allow people to increase their recycling, due to more types of plastic being accepted. The new technology allows the machine to flatten, crush, and flake the material inside it to reduce transport miles, as it will allow for more recycling to be stored in it for longer. The machine also rewards customers who recycle by giving them club card points for aluminium cans. The original recycling banks will be moved into the adjacent car park this week (w/c 27 October) and will still be fully accessible for residents to use. Once the new recycling centre is fully installed and working correctly the original banks will be removed. The paper banks have already been removed from the site and will not be returned, however, residents are reminded that they can recycle paper at home by making use of the kerbside collection service that the council provides. Paper recycling facilities are also available at the Brooke Road, Oakham recycling site, including any shredded paper. The new recycling centre at Tesco will allow residents to recycle food and drink cans (both aluminium and steel), plastic and all types of glass. The existing textile banks will stay on the site alongside the new technology. | ||
