CA Site Opens Early
Published:Thursday 7 May 2009The project to improve the new site has been ongoing for a couple of months and the new site opened on Saturday 2 May. Director of Community Services, Phil Trow says: “We had been working extremely hard to do everything we could to open the CA site for the first May bank holiday. I’m pleased to announce that this hard work has paid off and the site opened on Saturday 2 May, a full two weeks ahead of schedule”. Phil Trow added, “We’ve made a number of significant improvements to the site and I hope residents will agree they are worthwhile. Cottesmore CA site was at times very difficult to negotiate, particularly for those with small trailers. The new layout and improved recycling facilities should hopefully prove very popular”. Improvement works at Cottesmore CA site have taken place to help reduce queues, make recycling easier, extend the range of recycling materials and improve traffic flow. A mechanical compactor is also being installed so that refuse can be crushed and stored more easily. The council estimates that this will reduce the number of collections to and from the site, saving the council money. The site, located between Burley and Cottesmore, is one of two in Rutland where members of the public can dispose of excess household waste. Residents are also reminded that permits valid for 2008 for the Civic Amenity sites can also be used throughout 2009. Residents do not need to return their permit or apply for a new one, simply present your 2008 permit for inspection during the next 12 months. The temporary green waste collection at Ashwell Depot is now closed due to the early reopening of the Cottesmore CA Site. Residents should now take any household or garden waste to the Cottesmore site. For more information please contact Rutland County Council on 01572 722 577. | ||
